The Ripples Black Original by Speake-Marin is one of the latter. Born from the creative vision of Christelle Rosnoblet and designer Stéphane Lacroix, it carries on its dial the signature ripple motif, a quiet, almost meditative pattern that speaks of depth rather than spectacle.

The "La City" case, in stainless steel, leads the way in Speake-Marin's sport-chic identity — a reflection of our times and of high watchmaking, discreet yet complex, adorning the wrist with effortless comfort. Front and back sapphire crystals, treated with anti-reflective coating, frame a dial built to be read at a glance and admired on second look.

Look closer. The black dial, finished with the Maison's signature ripple texture, meets polished indexes with quiet precision. At 1:30, a black small seconds counter settles into the composition with characteristic restraint, while heart-shaped rhodium-plated hands — the Maison's unmistakable signature, sweep across central hours and minutes. Beneath, the in-house SMA03-T calibre, with fully integrated micro-rotor, reveals hand-finished bridges, inner angles, and Geneva stripes through its slender 9.20mm profile. An integrated stainless steel bracelet, secured by a steel folding buckle, completes the piece with the same fluid discipline.

The Calibre SMA03-T expresses a contemporary interpretation of traditional haute horlogerie, highlighted by the signature small seconds at 1:30. The “T” for Tradition reflects an elevated level of finishing, combining modern construction with classical decorative techniques such as rhodium treatment, hand-polished bevels and refined inner angles.

Measuring 30 mm in diameter and 3.9 mm in height, this automatic calibre is composed of 147 components and 29 jewels. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it delivers a 52-hour power reserve and an average precision of ±5 seconds per day.

Its architecture reveals a refined balance between technical performance and aesthetic execution, enhanced by traditional haute horlogerie finishes including circular graining, bevelled edges and hand-executed detailing.

First introduced in the Ripples Black Original, the SMA03-T embodies the meeting point between tradition, precision and contemporary openworked design.
